Ana Rita Sousa

Rita is a long-time environmental activist. She moved to Alentejo in 2009 to become an agroecological farmer and is part of several collectives committed to the agroecological transition. She currently runs Espaço Nativa at the Integral Cooperative in Odemira, where she links production with consumption. She advocates building food systems from the ‘bottom-up’ in a cooperative and community logic. Motherhood has given her a new perspective on the importance of caring and its relationship with agriculture.
