Rita Calvário is a researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES), the University of Coimbra. She has a background in rural sociology and political ecology. Her research focuses on the study of agrarian social movements, food system transformation, and labor and gender inequalities in food systems, with a focus on Southern Europe. She is leads at CES the project SWIFT and she is a member of Undisciplined Environments Collective.

Ana Cabana Iglésia is an Associate Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). She is an agrarian historian and her research delves into: Social attitudes during Francoism; Agrarian policies and processes of change in contemporary rural Spain; Socio-environmental conflict in the 20th century; Commons; and Rural Women’s history. She is a member of “Histagra” – Agrarian and Political History on the Rural World, CISPAC – Interuniversity Research Centre for Atlantic Cultural Landscapes, and CIFEX – Interdisciplinary Centre for Feminist Research and Gender Studies.

Joseba Extabiel Azkarraga is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of the Basque Country. He is a member of the research group EKOPOL, an interdisciplinary research group working on socio-environmental justice and societal change. Over the last years, he has been studying the role that both “organised society” and “community” play in furthering and strengthening socio-ecological resilience, as well as the cultural dimensions of food sovereignty and agroecology, and the links between ideology/culture/imagination and pathways for building post-growth societies.
