An exciting project on rural women struggles for gender and food justice

In Portugal, Galicia and the Basque Country

Rosa Dias

Rosa has taken on the challenge of preserving her family’s ecological farming legacy in the Algarve. She prioritises practices that preserve soil health and has invested in her farm’s economic diversification. She co-founded the Al-Bio Agroecological Association to support the agroecological transition from production to sales and political demands. Being a woman in a masculinised sector has brought her challenges, but also a more complex view of agriculture and food systems centred on a care perspective.

We women don’t fight just for ourselves; we fight for everyone and for a better world.
